Moto Vest

moto-vest_2

The Moto Vest Pattern by Shelli Westcott is a versatile knit that can be worn over shirts for added warmth. This is a super quick knit in a chunky weight but the pattern can be made in any gauge or type of yarn by adjusting the cast on.

moto-vest_1

L & B used Ushya by Mirasol a 98% wool 2% polyamide yarn. This yarn is super soft, fluffy, and easy to work with. We decided to color block our vest adding even more interest to this already fun knit!!

You can also pair this vest with lightweight jackets or wear it under coats. The large collar can be flipped for a scarf-shawl-like look.

By purchasing Mirasol products you are supporting the local shepherds of Peru. Their heritage and culture of textile artistry is one of the richest in the world and without them tending to their animals we would not have this beautiful, luxurious yarn. Blarf

blarf_2

The Stashbuster Blarf by Esther Sandrof is a large-sized, packable and cozy scarf that can double as a light blanket. We changed ours into a wide cowl by seaming the ends together which works well! It looks great however you decide to wear it. Try it long or double it up for more warmth with layers.

blarf_1_edited-1

The pattern is designed as a stashbuster to use up all those delicious little balls of leftover yarn that we can’t bear to get rid of. We actually used 2 hanks (one of each color) of Plymouth Yarns Merino Textura, a 62% Superwash Fine Merino Wool and 38% Merino Wool.  This yarn is a super soft, slubby, thick and thin yarn in a worsted weight and the semi-solid colors just add more vintage appeal to the cowl.

blarf_3

The pattern includes four linear motifs that are available in written form as well as charted. If you haven’t used a crochet chart before this is a great pattern to start with because the pattern is easy to remember. To take a look at the pattern just click here!

Fleece Blanket with Crochet Border

crochet-flannel-blanket_1

This $20 crochet class will teach students how to no-sew seam together two pieces of plush/fleece blankets to create one beautiful, thick blanket with a crochet edging border. Students will learn how to:

  • Pair up the two blankets so that they lie together as one blanket.
  • Make the Double Crochet Stitch and the DC Cluster to create a beautiful edging border to go all around the blanket.
  • Invisible weave in your tails for a finished, professional look in your final product.

The class will be held Saturday, January 21st from 1:30pm-3:30pm and is recommended to students who know how to chain and single crochet. Students will need to bring:

  • 2 fleece/plush blankets of the same size with an existing blanket stitch edging.
  • Est. 200-250 yards of worsted weight yarn in complementing color to selected blankets.
  • H hook
  • Crochet stitch markers (optional; not required but they make the process of seaming the two blankets together easier and more efficient)

Materials are not included.

L & B will have a small selection of the fleece or plush blankets for students to purchase or you can bring your own.
